Ìyàwó Wa is my more contemporary take on the traditional Adire aesthetic. She is young, colourful and unapologetically herself, with an oversized gele and a deep purple outfit that gives the piece a very different energy from my more traditional portraits. She holds a vase that I think of as a symbol of familial identity. We all carry something that is sacred to us, something that connects us to where we come from and to the people who came before us.
